Sex Ed. Saturday, July 31, 2010 @ 10:08 PM
I'm the co-form teacher of a sec 3 class, I'll have to teach sex ed (and they don't care whether you're competent or not, all teachers should have "ready to teach sex ed" installed in them). I've seen the lesson package, and to be honest it's more interesting than what we had last time in secondary school. Seriously. Yesterday saw the first lesson in the sex ed thing and this lady who came down to our school to give a mass lecture for the kids. She was pretty good, considering her age. Lots of technical cock ups though.

I tell you the kids were all so excited. They wasted no time in packing their bags (Civics and moral education is the last period on Friday) and lined up outside of the class, and this boy, who is one of the retainers looks grown up but seriously is just another brat. He purposely asked me

Brat: "Cher, what we doing today ah (or something along those lines)?"

I: *rolls eyes* "Sex ed. Very interesting one. Hurry up get into twos."

Brat: "We do a live demo ah, cher want to do with me?"

Me: *shoving students around* "Sorry I don't like to do it with boys younger than me."

I think that shut the boy up but seriously I wanted to say that I don't fancy little boys who've just grown pubic hair and still reek of milk.

There was this video about STDs and of course when it comes to kids shock tactics always works best. The video was chock full of full frontal down there nudity with infected genitals. Oh man I can still remember one vagina with what looks like mashed potatoes smeared around it. (I do apologise profusely for the expression and my unpardonable unladylike imagination) I remember with satisfaction this most irritating boy whom I have a passionate dislike for was squirming and shrinking after he saw the photos. HA! I think I should print those pictures out and flash it in front of him the next time he's acting like one of the infected genitals (hrm I wonder if I'd get sued by his mother for showing him porn...oh I'm so sorry I'm acting like an infected genital too.)!

HAHA SEX ED! One of the many reasons why staying in the teaching line is a good choice!

Sick. Saturday, July 24, 2010 @ 10:00 PM
Urgh. My face and throat hasn't been giving me any peace these few months. Been coughing like mad and my gums feel numb. Went to the ENT at KTP hospital on Thursday but the doctor didn't seem to reach any conclusion nor did he pinpoint the source of my discomfort. He did extract a mother-of-all-earwax (as described by him) from my right ear and I almost fainted on the spot. His voice was deafening after he extracted it out. I had no idea I was so deaf, though my left ear is still blocked. He then used this scope that went down from my nostrils (urgh) to see what's going on in my throat. Apparently it looks a little swollen, but he said it isn't anything worrying. He said the swelling might be from acid reflux and form the fact that I'm a teacher so I use my voice a lot, which I do and I feel terrible especially coming out from a difficult class. I'm now on the medicine, but there doesn't seem to be any effect. I did a skin prick test too, but all turned out negative. The wounds are itchy now though.

He referred me to an orofacial person at the dental department and I was attended to by this woman who simply looked like she couldn't bother more. She merely asked me to lie down on the chair, massaged my gums a little here and there, then said that I couldn't be cured and am wasting my time there. I wonder why I didn't get angry then. I could have told her she was wasting her own time as a doctor. Good thing my consultation fee is paid or else I'll storm out of the clinic demanding a refund.

I'll just take my medicine now and see how it goes. Just hope its nothing serious.

On a lighter note, I watched Inception! It was pretty cool, though a little confusing at first. The concept is really cool! I didn't notice we all only remember parts of a dream, never how it starts until the movie talked about it. Cool!

Heyoooo~ Tuesday, July 13, 2010 @ 10:10 PM
It's been some time since I last blogged.

Inevitable la, I saw it coming.

Because seriously nobody cares how many periods you had in a day and the stupid boys and girls you scolded today or how much you laughed at your colleagues for their un-teacher-like behaviour.

Such is the cruelty of working life... I wake up at 5.50 a.m and I snooze until 6.10, then hurriedly put on my clothes and grab a bite, run in heels because I'm always late, go to class, nag at my kids, going back and forth up the stairs, nag my kids for not doing their homework, finish one day and stay back in school doing only god-knows-what, go home, da bao dinner or cook if I have the time, and eat while watching "Here comes Ajumma".

Ok la. Life's been ok. As long as I have things to look forward to every week, like meeting friends, interesting school events, seeing my garlic sprout, being able to do drawings on weekends or at night and payday, I suppose it's still not too shabby!
